What We Believe
Statement of Faith
What informs our minds? What guides our hearts? In a nation that spins out a dozen of remixes of just one
Billboard song, and creates entire menus of variations on "coffee," it takes little imagination to recognize similar trends in
religion. But while unrestricted variety may be desirable in entertainment,
dilution can only weaken truth. You can't spice up God's message
with extra ingredients, the way you can a "cup of joe." It seems that while people are
dying to know God, they are simultaneously drowning in a sea of
savior-derivatives and weak religious alternatives.
That makes it all the more important for us to cling
exclusively to the truth as revealed in the Bible. At Cornerstone, we've
established a set of statements to help us guard the integrity of
our faith. We intend to declare our allegiance to God's authoritative message as
revealed to us through Jesus Christ in the Bible. Therefore:
We Believe...
▲ We believe the Bible to be the inspired,
the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
▲
We believe there is one almighty, perfect, and triune God: Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit, eternally coexistent personalities of the same essence.
▲
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in
His sinless life, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily
resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His
personal return in power and glory.
▲
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, and in His ministry of
convicting and regenerating sinful men, and indwelling, sealing, and empowering
believers.
▲
We believe in the fall of man from the state of innocence in which he was
created to one of total depravity in which he is devoid of spiritual life, and
incapable, apart from divine power, of pleasing God.
▲
We believe that salvation for any sinner is through justification by
grace through faith alone.
▲
We believe that the church universal is composed of all true believers
and that all the various members of this spiritual body should assemble
themselves together in local churches for worship, prayer, fellowship, and
teaching with the view of being equipped to carry out the great commission.
▲
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved to immortality, and of
the unsaved to a conscious eternal suffering.
