What We Believe

Core Values

Who are we? What are the most important traits of our Cornerstone family? Whether you're a struggling author, a penniless student, or a growing church, probably the best way to stay on track is to be conscientiously aware of who you are, deep-down. For us, Core Values express the convictions and practices, rooted in the Word of God, that are most important to us as  a church. While we can't list every value we hold dear, we do present seven that are of paramount  importance to the community life of Cornerstone. In good times and bad, these values help us remember the unique calling that Christ intends for us as a group of believers.

1. Exalt Christ - We seek as our highest purpose to honor and exalt our Lord Jesus Christ. We give ourselves to this purpose through individual and corporate praise and worship and through lives - and a church life - set apart for His use and His glory.

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. —Psalm 34:3

2. Adhere to Scripture - We seek to build our lives on God's flawless word, the Bible. We measure success in terms of character and conduct in conformity with God's standards and principles as revealed in the Scriptures. We are committed to promoting such success in our midst through instruction and example that are faithful to God's word.

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16

3. Promote spiritual growth - We seek to stimulate one another to pursue God and the things dear to Him. We strive for a church life rich with opportunity to deepen our relationship with Christ, to learn of the "things above," and to grow more and more like Christ Himself.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. —Romans 12:2
